I need to read more. I have a bunch of blogs and other feeds that I read daily through Google Reader (I use that because it’s nicely incorporated into my iGoogle and I get my feeds at any computer). I’m looking to expand. What do you read and why? What should I be reading and why? Post your answers in the comments.

In addition to those, I regularly read Sluggy Freelance, User Friendly, and Sinfest. As you can see, they fall into various categories. I have my beer reading, my Providence stuff, my tech stuff, my random stuff, some friends, some fun stuff, and some life stuff. Post what you read, any topic, doesn’t matter. I’ll likely check it out and it might make it to my daily reading.
I write about music and our smoothie stand at various music festivals.
You’ve got a few good beer sites there I haven’t seen before. I used to go to homebrewtalk.com quite a bit when I first started brewing. It’s not really a blog or anything (it’s a brewer’s community forum), but if you’re interested in brewing (have you tried again, btw?) it’s good to browse around. A lot of good advice for brewers just starting out.
I normally just check some of the tech sites (mostly arstechnica.com) and the following comics:
http://www.basicinstructions.net
http://www.wetherobots.com
For general news I find popurls.com to be a good aggregate site.
Oh, and of course journal.davidbyrne.com is in my list of feeds, but he only posts once in a while.
Oh, yeah, and thanks for listing my site!
Haven’t started brewing again, but thanks for the suggestions. The wife said once we got married, I could buy equipment… unfortunately, I have a collection agency after me to get my car taxes because the stupid city never mailed me a tax bill and legally, I’m responsible for calling them to find out how much I owe.
I, Cringely is great for a unique and humorous (yet truthful) technology perspective/ opinion.(http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/). I love this little tidbit from the his entry on the Gartner “Much of this comes down to the decided lack of professionalism in IT, which is after all a very new job classification. There is a huge difference, for example, between someone with an engineering degree and someone in IT who calls himself an engineer. Real engineers are often valued employees.”
Thanks for the shout out!
Hey Jim,
Thanks for a couple of good beer blogs that I hadn’t seen before. I’ll check those out.
I’m a big sports fan so I read a lot of newspaper, ESPN, etc. sports feeds. I don’t think that is of interest to you. Some blogs that I think you may like reading are -
Gizmodo.com
TVsquad.com
Thebucketblog.com
beeradvocate.com/smack – Just one of a few beeradvocate RSS feeds that I read
Later,
Joel
