I decided to try a bottle of Harpoon’s latest 100 bbl series beer, Steve Stewart’s Firth of Forth Ale. I’ve only had a couple of the beers in this series, my favorite being the Old Ale, which was pretty tasty. This one wasn’t quite as good. It poured a reddish brown color with a decent head that hung around for a while. The smell was pretty faint, but was sweet malts and smoke. The taste was lacking. The smoke overpowered any other flavors, but I could detect the sweeter malts, maybe even some caramel malt. It was kind of thin and watery in body. It was quite drinkable, but not really special. It’s probably worth trying once, but there are many better examples of this style.
